April 1st marked the night of the first NoCo P90X Meetup group. We converged on X-Treme Challenge in Fort Collins. X-Treme Challenge is a great place that brings out that inner child in you. Think American Gladiators for those of us that might not be so Gladiator like.
Chuck Richards is the owner of the Fort Collins X-Treme Challenge. The Arena has all sorts of fun things for kids of all ages, and your party can be custom designed to fit what you want to do. My friend, and fellow Beachbody Coach Don Mcgrath had a playshop just last weekend at X-Treme Challenge. I was out of town, but I heard that it was a great success, and it was a fun time had by all. I will post something when the next one is coming up. For our P90X meetup, a place named X-Treme Challenge was perfect.
For now we are utilizing a pair of rooms upstairs from the main floor, but if need be we can expand to the bigger room. Don actually had a projector and screen so it was great to not only workout as a group, but to see the workout on the big screen. We decided as a kick off to use the CardioX workout. It is really a well rounded representation of the cardio aspects of P90X. The workout is just over 45 minutes and combines a warmup with Yoga, Kenpo, Plyometrics, & Corework. The minutes just melt away, and before you know it the workout is done.
One note is that the floor is hardwood, so we had to skip the dreya rolls, but we added another workout in its place. I will be wearing shoes with more traction next time. Nike Frees just don’t do it on hard wood. We may also recommend bringing a Yoga mat in order to do AbripperX at future meetups.
Now, you might be thinking I can’t do P90X, well the workout can be adapted to anyone’s style and level of fitness. There are actually 3 different variations of the workout program. That is the beauty of having a program that is on a DVD, there is a pause button when you need it. Also, you can take a break when you need it. People of all abilities are welcome to join us at the meetup. We actually had Chuck’s son Kyle, who is 14, do the whole CardioX workout with us at the meetup.
