Overall, I ran a good race, I was a little slower than I wanted to be.  I was hoping to get around a 21:30 to have a better seed in the 2007 Bolder Boulder 10K.  I ended up having an offical time of 22:47

My prerace meal included oatmeal and honey, and that gave me some energy.  The race this year had over 500 participants, which was up from the 304 last year.  This was my first year running the race, but I will look into it next year.

The race started at about 8:35, since there was still a line at the porta-potties at 8:30.  3 porta-potties for over 500 runners, is a little shy of the best amount.

The course was pretty flat, running down Peterson Avenue going around the block and coming back down Peterson for an I shape to the course.

I don’t think I could have improved my time too much more, I may have been able to shave about 30 seconds more, but I was pretty much at my highest speed.  My heartrate topped out at 195 (97%) and averaged at 188 (94%), so I don’t think I could have pushed too much more.  I was forced at 2.5 to walk for about 4 seconds, but the rest of the race was running.

At the end I hit the lap button instead of the stop button on my Garmin, so I added an additional 1.5 minutes to my time.  Oh well,

Here were my splits

Mile 1 – 6:46 (new PR on the mile for me!)
Mile 2 – 7:19 (14:05)
Mile 3 – 7:45 (21:50)
Finish – 22:33 – (a new PR according to my Garmin) My previous PR was 22:38.  My official race time was 22:47
